Coalition Objectives and Activities:
Engage communities and persons of faith to PRAYER and REPENTANCE against the exploitation and enslavement of human beings
- Acknowledge the supernatural power of prayer and employ it for help and healing
- Host an annual prayer event in January and monthly prayer intentions
- Unify all worshipping communities in a collaborative and concerted effort to end slavery
Promote AWARENESS of human trafficking in an effort to reduce incidences of new victimization and increase identification of existing victims
- Conduct public awareness briefings to congregations, schools, business, and civic groups
- Employ a variety of media channels to increase public awareness
- Provide industry-specific training to frontline responders on victim identification and reporting
Facilitate PREVENTION of human trafficking by educating potential victims, encouraging moral and just conduct, ministering to perpetrators, and advocating for fair trade and values-based economics
- Organize and host programs to reach into the lives of young people with messages of risk reduction and safe conduct
- Engage in research and explore creative solutions for ending the Demand
- Stimulate the Church and NGOs to offer care programs for perpetrators and at-risk offenders
- Promote Fair Trade and Freedom Products to overturn the economic forces of this trade
Participate in ADVOCACY efforts to promote an equitable and just legal system
- Lend support to the federal legislative agenda, Maryland Human Trafficking Lobby Days and state-level campaigns
- Disseminate public information to encourage civic participation
Support INTERVENTION of human trafficking activity by working cooperative with law enforcement and stimulating citizen involvement
- Organize and host street outreaches into vulnerable areas
- Support law enforcement with intelligence, surveillance and citizen support
Develop AFTER CARE services and a care-giver network for victims and perpetrators
- Through the work of The Samaritan Women, establish restoration homes for adults and youth
- Cooperate with law enforcement to provide victim emergency shelters and support
- Work through government and NGO sectors to align partnerships that will improve victim care
- Support the work of existing NGOs through public awareness and further education
